Grad school.
For any of you lovely readers out there who've been there and done that, you know exactly why I've been MIA for the past few months. I am doing a two year program in one year, which means I have very little free time. I am glad to say my first semester was a swimming success: no mental breakdowns & my first 4.0 semester since high school!
I really miss writing about makeup and beauty and lifestyle sorts of things, so I am going to try to post a few things whilst I am on break.
Firstly, I have been absolutely in love with baked oatmeal. I make an individual ramekin of it almost every morning for breakfast and nothing makes me happier. I Instagram my breakfasts far too often. It may be problematic.
I would really like to do more food posts on this blog, and I think I'll start with different baked oatmeal recipes. Stay tuned!
My second love? My new apartment. I moved in back in August, but it's just now starting to feel like home. I had so much fun decorating for Christmas... I didn't have much to work with, but a mini-tree and some fairy lights go a long way in my book.
My bedroom came with those awful plastic blinds that keep people from looking in but do very little to keep light out. Sleeping in past 7 am had become quite the challenge, and the blanket that inevitably ended up hung over the window each night wasn't all that attractive. I went to Target and found some pretty lined curtains that matched my room. I'm not a huge fan of the curtain rod (I probably should have gotten the longer one), but I love the overall look. I have struggled with insomnia in the past, so I tried to turn my bedroom here into the most restive, peaceful place I could. My room is soft blues, mossy greens, and grays - the curtains match my vanity chair almost exactly.
My makeup world has been dreary the past few months. I have been going barefaced more often than not, which makes me a little sad. Nothing like some winged liner and a bold lip to make the day brighter! The only makeup purchases I've made (thanks to some credit card points and a gift card) were Vice 2 and Ocho Loco 2. I haven't played with them too much, but they are both beautiful products.
So I hope I have time to pop in more often. like making and sharing happy, pretty things, and that's still what I want to do here. I hope you'll stick around!
XOXO Samantha
